A Muslim divorce has different considerations and procedures compared to a civil divorce. A Muslim divorce falls under the jurisdiction of the Syariah Court in Singapore.

What are the requirements for a Muslim divorce?

The requirements of a Muslim divorce will depend on whether the husband or wife is seeking the divorce. If the husband is the party seeking the divorce they only have to say talak, which effectively enables them to end the marriage without having to prove anything.

If the wife is seeking to end the divorce they will have to prove at least one of the following:

  1. Khuluk
  2. Cerai Taklik
  3. Fasakh

If you are considering a divorce it is advisable to speak to an experienced Syariah lawyer. Please get in touch to discuss your situation, the first consultation is provided free.
