Experience
Andrew advises individuals and families across a broad range of family law matters. His experience includes contested and uncontested divorce proceedings, division of matrimonial assets, child custody, care and control, access arrangements, maintenance, and family disputes involving cross-border issues.
He also assists clients with pre-nuptial agreements and deeds of separation, as well as related personal and estate planning matters such as Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
A distinctive aspect of Andrew’s practice is his background in commercial litigation, international arbitration and corporate transactions. This experience is particularly relevant to family disputes involving complex financial arrangements, privately held businesses, company shareholdings, trusts, investments and assets located overseas.
Where a matrimonial asset dispute involves corporate structures or substantial business interests, Andrew is able to approach the matter from both a family law and commercial perspective.
Alongside his family practice, Andrew acts in civil and commercial disputes, domestic and international arbitration proceedings, and corporate advisory matters. His wider litigation experience also includes Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) proceedings and contentious probate and Will disputes.
Prior to joining PKWA Law, Andrew trained and practised with WongPartnership LLP. During his time there, he worked in the firm’s Corporate & Commercial Disputes and Mergers & Acquisitions practices.
His dispute resolution experience includes proceedings under both SIAC and ICC arbitration rules. These include an arbitration which resulted in an award of more than US$150 million in damages, as well as a dispute connected with the proposed S$3.8 billion acquisition of an SGX-listed company.
Andrew has also been involved in High Court proceedings concerning shareholder and joint venture disputes, confidential information, and technology-related claims.
His corporate transactional experience includes advising on significant transactions such as Blackstone’s A$24 billion acquisition of AirTrunk and City Developments Limited’s disposal of its interest in the South Beach mixed-use development, based on an agreed property value of approximately S$2.75 billion.
He has also advised on the sale of a majority interest in a Singapore education company for more than S$70 million and the sale of Avtel Holdings Pte. Ltd. to SECOM Co., Ltd.
